The best news about this announcement for Nintendo fans is the company's intentions to eventually bring the application to the Switch.

Just in time for the holidays, Disney+ will launch globally on November 12 at an initial subscription price of $6.99 per month - or discounted offering of $69.99 per year.

After months of building anticipation, Disney has finally announced a launch date and price point for its new streaming service, Disney+. Disney also provided the first look at the movie in the form of a still image and it features real dogs.

Captain Marvel will be available on day one of the subscription streaming service's launch, and so will Disney's entire Signature Collection. After years of putting streaming in the back seat to protect its big-budget blockbusters and lucrative TV model, Disney has made streaming its top priority this year, even restructuring the company around it.

Also in the works are live-action films based on animated classics (like Lady and the Tramp, starring Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux), as well as new series developed from films such as Monsters Inc. and High School Musical. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are also teaming up in the streamer's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, with Tom Hiddleston starring in a new series titled Loki.

The service will come with customized settings and individual profiles, including the option to create a custom avatar with characters from the Disney library.

Noelle is a holiday comedy starring Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader that will premiere exclusively on Disney+ sometime after launch. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy teased it as "a thrilling spy series set in the Star Wars universe", and she also promised that there are "several more live-action series in development".
