At least 10 babies have died in Fisher-Price's "Rock 'n Play" sleeper since 2015, a warning from the company and the US Product Safety Commission (USPSC) revealed on Friday.

The product has not been recalled, but the CPSC is recommending that parents stop using the sleeper as the child approaches 3 months of age, or when the he or she begins to show the ability to roll over.

The warning did not elaborate on what caused the infants' death.

According to the CPSC, the Rock 'n Play is not suitable for babies once they're three months old and can roll on their own. Each of the 10 babies was 3 months or older.

"Fisher-Price and every one of our employees take the responsibility of being part of your family seriously, and we are committed to earning that trust every day", he explained.

In response to the US CPSC, Fisher Price said in a statement the company had a "long, proud tradition of prioritising safety" with regards to its products. He also points out that the product "meets all applicable safety standards".

In another post in 2016, Benaroch wrote: "The Rock-n-Play Sleeper ... is marketed and sold as a "sleeper.' You can tell, because the word 'sleeper" is in the name of the product".

"Dr. Gold notes that devices like the Rock 'n Play can come in handy when you need to put your baby down for a moment but that parents should not get into the habit of allowing a baby to sleep in them".

In addition to advising against sleep products like the Rock 'n Play, the AAP also cautions parents against using any other products for sleep that require restraining a baby.

The deaths of ten children in recent years have lead to parents being warned to stop using a portable cot.
