Windows 10 will start automatically removing problem-causing updates

Microsoft is testing a feature to bring Android apps to your Windows desktop It looks like you're trying to play Angry Birds. Can I help

Microsoft implemented a new troubleshooting step recently in Windows 10 that improves the operating system's handling of startup problems. The first is to try and regain trust after the October 2019 Update (1809) had to be recalled following a raft of compatibility and file integrity issues.

Windows automatically installs updates to keep your device secure and running at peak efficiency. "Occasionally, these updates can fail due to incompatibility or issues in new software", the document adds.

Your device has recently recovered from a startup failure if you have received this notification: "We removed some recently installed updates to recover your device from a startup failure".

Windows 10 build 18351, which was originally released to Fast ring insiders on March 5, is now available for the Slow ring too, but this time it also comes with a cumulative update that brings one fix. It's worth noting that Microsoft performs this step only when it's done with all the other possible recovery methods.

We've all been through this dejecting situation; and as it turns out, you could be experiencing it again if you update your system to the latest OS update from Microsoft.

The company will attempt to investigate and fix the issue alongside its partners within a 30-days period. If Windows detects this, it will try to resolve the failure by uninstalling recently installed updates.

Users can manually reinstall any updates that were uninstalled, but they will be removed again if Windows 10 still doesn't start.

Microsoft are now working on a fix for the issue, so we suggest holding out on updating your system until we get the "all clear". Specifically, if a Windows Update is preventing your PC from booting, then it may automatically roll back the faulty update.
