Shooting on tram in Dutch city of Utrecht, multiple people injured

Police in the central Dutch city of Utrecht said the shooting took place on a tram in a residential neighborhood at around 10:45 a.m. (0935 UTC) on Monday.

It is not confirmed how many people have been injured in the shooting.

Medevac helicopters have been send in to airlift the wounded, Utrecht police have said. they also urged drivers to make way for medical vehicles. Three helicopters have been despatched.

Emergency services including armed police, anti-terror units and paramedic teams are on the scene.

According to local journalists, police are still searching for the perpetrator.

Police had no further details about the incident and could not say how badly hurt the victims were.

The shooting happened at about 10:45am local time.

A witness, Jimmy de Koster, told RTV Utrecht he saw a woman lying on the ground shouting: "I didn't do anything".

It has been informed that the man opened fire on passengers.
