‘Mounting Frustrations’: Democrats Mull Primary Challenge Against Ilhan Omar

Sanders Campaign Spox Apologizes For Facebook Post About Jews' 'Dual Allegiance' Sanders's campaign aide apologizes for dual-loyalty remark in reference to Jews

'I'd be pretty uncomfortable supporting Rep. Omar right now, given ... her apparent inability to stop insulting Jews...'

It's typcally hard to replace an incumbent politician, even one as arguably polarizing as Omar, who in her first two months as a congresswoman has sparked contentious debates both as a country and within the party.

Ilhan Omar's repeated claims that Jews are buying United States politicians have fanned the flames of disapproval, even among her own fellow Minnesota Democrats.

"Omar's thinking, her conduct, and her blithe willingness to inject anti-Semitic tropes into the legislative process make her unfit to hold such a strategic position", he continued.

Democratic Party officials interviewed by The Hill said they have not yet decided on an alternative candidate, but "frustrations are mounting". "They are more than willing to pose with Omar on magazines covers, but when she tried to talk about a truly hard topic, which is her job as an elected official, and her life was in danger, they kind of threw her under the bus". "There's definitely talk about people wanting someone to run against her". Bobby Joe Champion and Minneapolis City Councilwoman Andrea Jankins.

A top staffer to Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign apologized Tuesday for invoking "a dual allegiance" of Jewish Americans while defending Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn. Ron Latz, a representative from Omar's district.

On Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, Democrats became the target of Bee's wrath for their response to Republican criticism of Rep. In particular, she questioned if some members of Congress have a "dual loyalty" to the United States and Israel.

Hunegs told The Hill that he met with Omar last month to discuss why her comments were offensive to the Jewish community.

"Unfortunately, having the opportunity to speak with her about that point didn't dissuade her making that statement", he said.
