So far, not many features are revealed but the long-awaited system-wide dark mode is coming as well as a desktop mode, that's for sure. According to a bug tracker for Android Q Beta as spotted by Mishaal Rahman of XDA, the latest Android version is scheduled for launch later today.

Adding more phonemakers to the early testing process could help get their devices on newer versions of Android more rapidly.

Separately xda-developers relayed a comment that Android Developer Illiyan Malchev made during the Android Developers Backstage podcast about the number of Android smartphones that will support the upcoming beta.

Essentially, it's part of the core OS code, that makes it easier for OEMs to roll out software updates.

More news: Anthony Barr leaving Minnesota, heading to the New York Jets

Illiyan: Yeah, in fact it was fully due to Treble. This indicates that the beta could be launched today and we are eagerly waiting for it.

Until then, you can keep guessing what Google will call its new Android version. So at Google I/O [2018], when we did the first beta, we had all these companies lined up and that was really that fantastic. I can not share the exact numbers yet.

It looks like Google is already working on the next major version of its mobile operating system, Android Q. "But the trend is positive and strong, and I am very happy about this".

As we know the first Android P Developer Preview build was launched in the middle of March 2018 and now nearly at the same time, we could see the Android Q Beta getting released. Some of the phones that we saw running the Android 9 Pie early previews including Essential PH-1, Nokia 7 Plus, OnePlus 6, Oppo R15 Pro, Sony Xperia XZ2, Vivo X21 and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. So, in order for the reports to be possible, the Android Q Beta should be available to testers, which is why we believe the first Android Q Beta build will be released on March 11.
