The Brazil worldwide, who joined Porto from Sao Paulo in the summer, will join up with his new team-mates at the start of next season.

Real Madrid have completed the €50 million (£43m/$57m) signing of Eder Militao from Porto, with the defender set to link up with them on a six-year contract.

And Real have already moved to land Zidane his first new player ahead of next season by agreeing a deal for 21-year-old Militao.

A statement on Real Madrid's website reads: "Real Madrid and Porto have agreed the transfer of the player Éder Militão, who will be linked to the club during the next six seasons, until June 30, 2025". Militao was named as the best defender in the competition for five consecutive matches.

The centre-back is the Spanish giants' first signing since Zinedine Zidane returned to the club as coach for a second spell this week.

Militao has played virtually every game for Porto so far in 2018/19 after making his Liga Primeira debut while still only 20 back in September.

He has scored three goals and picked up two assists in 34 appearances for the Portuguese side, with his displays catching the eye of Madrid. It stands out for its speed, placement and ability to anticipate.

Yet the signing of Eder Militao from Porto helps to solve their defensive problems.

Militao only arrived in European football during the summer of 2018.
