His sister Felicite - who was only 18 years old - passed away on Wednesday afternoon after an ambulance was called to her flat in West London.

Family sources tell the news outlet that the teenage fashion designer, known as Fizzy, had no prior history of heart trouble and was actually enjoying a bout of good health after giving up alcohol and cigarettes at the beginning of the year.

Actor and talkshow host James Corden said the news was "incredibly sad" and tweeted to Tomlinson that he is "not on your own in this".

Police officers are investigating the teenager's death, which they are now treating as "unexplained".

Tomlinson's mother, Johannah Deakin, died in December 2016, after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia.

American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth said he is sending "prayers" to Tomlinson and added: "I can't imagine how hard it is right now".

Watford boyband Rak-Su, who won the fourteenth series of the X Factor before Tomlinson debuted as a judge, sent their sympathies.

Family pictures show the singer with his fours sisters who have been supporting each other through hard times following the death of their mother.

Despite attempts to resuscitate Tomlinson, she was pronounced dead on the scene, TMZ said. "A post-mortem examination will take place in due course".

Her last social media post came on Sunday (March 10).

Following the devastating news of his younger sister's death, Louis Tomlinson has pulled out of Friday night's Comic Relief.
