One of K-Pop's leading stars has admitted to secretly filming sexual encounters with women and sharing the footage online, as scandal grips South Korea's music scene. Starnews/AFP/Getty Images "I acknowledge all my sins and actions in connection with what is being said about me about the allegations". According to the Seoul Police, Jung joon Young who is now in his 30s, has been suspected of violating the sexual violence laws in Korea which prohibit the non - consensual filming as well as sharing of intimate videos.

Seungri is also said to have been part of a chat group where fellow singer, Jung Joon Young allegedly shared videos of 10 different women in sexual acts.

Yong also said that he had met Seoul police as a witness in the ongoing case against Jung and that he had cooperated fully with the investigation.

After pausing in the midst of the media scrum, he stated, "I am sorry". But a burgeoning sex scandal in the industry shows how pervasive discrimination and abuse are in South Korean society, activists say.

Reaction among BIGBANG fans has been divided, some expressing anger and disappointment, others disbelief and support.

Seungri's announcement comes around the same time news outlet SBS funE reported that the singer was part of a chat group where videos of women engaging in sexual acts were shared. Police said there were several Kakao Talk chatrooms involved but didn't elaborate.

A series of recent scandals has exposed the dark side of South Korea's booming yet ultra-competitive entertainment industry.

YG Entertainment has terminated controversial K-pop star Seungri's exclusive contract.

Since its debut in 2006, Big Bang has attracted huge, loyal followings in Asia and around the world.

Many K-pop stars are recruited by talent agencies as teenagers, some when they are elementary school students, and they often sleep, eat and train together before making a debut.

Forbes magazine reported in June 2016 the band took home $US44 million ($A62 million) in pre-tax earnings in the previous year, more than the $US 33.5 million collected by then the highest-paid American all-male arena pop group, Maroon 5. Some suicides have occurred among celebrities in the industry.

Seungri has been engaged in diverse business ventures, including a ramen franchise and a dance academy, and enjoyed displaying his lavish lifestyle.

It is unclear if the charges will have any effect on Seungri's upcoming military enlistment, which is scheduled to begin on Mar 25.

By law, the ongoing police investigation can not prevent Seungri from joining the army unless he's formally arrested before March 25 or voluntarily requests for a delay of his enlistment.

Jung's scandal flared while police were investigating his friend, K-pop star and entrepreneur Seungri, over an allegation that he attempted to provide prostitutes to his business investors.
