Investigators are working to find the cause of this week's Ethiopian Airlines crash of a 737 Max 8 that killed 157 people.

If the problems continue they can switch off the automatic trim system and then fly and trim the aircraft manually for the remainder of the flight.

Meanwhile, Norwegian was maintaining its order for more aircraft of the same type from Boeing, spokesman Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen said.

Lion Air ordered 222 Boeing Max planes, including 218 of the Max 8 model and four Max 9 planes.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Netanyahu spoke to Abiy Ahmed, and Israeli officials in Africa and Jerusalem were in contact with Ethiopian authorities about granting access to Israeli search and rescue team ZAKA.

This comes after several nations, from the United Kingdom to Japan, grounded the passenger jets after two Boeing 737 Max 8s crashed in the past four months, killing 346 people onboard.

The fatal crash was the second of a Boeing 737 Max 8 in five months.

In India, SpiceJet and Jet Airways operate 17 Boeing 737-800 MAX aircraft. According to a preliminary investigation by Indonesia's airport authority, the plane's sensors were showing incorrect speed and altitude readings during another flight hours before the disaster.

In the wake of Sunday's crash in Ethiopia, aviation authorities and carriers around the world, including in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, France, Germany, South Africa, the European Union, China and Russian Federation, have either grounded all 737 Max 8 series aircraft or closed their airspace to them.

Southwest is the world's largest operator of the 737 MAX 8 with 34 jets, while American flies 24 MAX 8s and United 14 MAX 9s.

Following last October's Lion Air crash in Indonesia, investigators said the pilots had appeared to struggle with an automated system created to keep the plane from stalling, a new feature of the jet.

"And when I fly, if I'm on a 737 Max 8, I think I'd be perfectly okay and it wouldn't bother me".

More than a dozen relatives of those who perished paid respects on Wednesday at the rural crash site where Flight ET 302 came down in a fireball.

Only charred fragments of victims remain, meaning it will take weeks to identify all of them using dental or DNA testing.

"Similar causes may have contributed to both events", European regulators said, referring to the Lion Air crash in Indonesia that killed 189 people in October.

The victims came from more than 30 nations, and included almost two dozen U.N. staff.

Boeing Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg is also confident about the safety of the 737 Max, Reuters news agency reported, citing Muilenburg's email to employees.

In a statement Wednesday, before the order from Transport Canada, Air Canada spokeswoman Isabelle Arthur said the airline has a "flexible rebooking policy" that includes options to change flights to another aircraft if space permits, but wouldn't indicate if that comes with a fee.

Some of the complaints appear to involve the same anti-stall system, according to a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration database. They are voluntary safety reports and do not publicly reveal the names of pilots, the airlines or the location of the incidents.
