Nasser al-Khelaifi, the Qatari president of French giants Paris Saint-Germain, was on Thursday officially appointed club representative on UEFA's Executive Committee, at the Congress of European football's governing body in Rome.

Ceferin also confirmed UEFA's plans to launch its own streaming platform in the next six months, a service he believes will "make football more accessible for fans, all fans across the planet".

His most notable achievements have been introducing term limits for UEFA presidents - to a maximum of three four-year stints - and, according to one of those close to him, "maintaining unity in European football".

Under UEFA statutes, Ceferin, as the only candidate, was voted in by acclamation - a round of applause - from the delegates of the 55 member associations.

With FIFA President Gianni Infantino in the audience, Ceferin says UEFA is showing respect for soccer by saying it disagrees with the world soccer body's proposal. In addition, it sets the foundations and structure required to ensure, that together with UEFA, we meet the challenges the game faces to support its continued long-term growth.

Ceferin on Thursday vowed there would never be a breakaway European Super League during his term in office.

"We will work hand-in-hand with our partner, the European Club Association, to design the club competitions of the future", Ceferin said. "My answer is no", said Ceferin.

The Frenchman is still suspended until October this year when he will complete a four-year ban from all football-related activities following the corruption scandal that also brought down then-FIFA chief Sepp Blatter.

Other key Ceferin targets through 2023 are a European bidder winning the 2030 World Cup hosting rights and updating the financial fair play rules which monitor club finances. UEFA member voters gave Greg Clarke a 37-18 win over David Martin, the Northern Ireland federation president.

Ceferin said UEFA would "rigorously defend" their members' concerns over the global calendar, backed by Andrea Agnelli, president of Italian champions Juventus and the ECA, with whom UEFA signed an agreement on Wednesday.
