According to a recent report from Page Six, two neighbors of Empire Star Jussie Smollett have allegedly come forward to say that the actor is lying about being attacked in a hate crime.

The investigation into the attack on Jussie Smollett continues.

Smollett's music manager, Brandon Z. Moore, told ABC News he was on the phone with Smollett during the alleged January 29 attack and heard a "scuffle" and a "racial slur", but Smollett initially refused to release his phone to cops so they could verify the claim. Then, hours later, there were two "persons of interest" on video.

Smollett's representatives issued a statement a day after police said the heavily redacted phone records he turned over to detectives this week were insufficient for a criminal investigation.

The Post said last week it traced Smollett's likely route to the underpass from a 24-hour Subway sandwich shop where he bought a tuna sandwich and a salad, and that near the foot of a stairwell to the Loews, the paper found an empty hot sauce bottle that was partially filled with a clear liquid that smelled like bleach.

Smollett said he was talking to his manager on his phone when two men yelled slurs, put a rope around his neck and hit him.

"I don't believe it happened the way he said it did", Muhammad said.

Smollett is back in Chicago to work on the show.

"I've been in this neighborhood five years". Smollett has already agreed to surrender his phone records and is in the process of gathering them, according to TMZ. "Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and misrepresentations that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served". "They have cameras everywhere".

Chicago police have not been able to identify any legitimate suspects in the case, nor have they been able to find any surveillance footage of the attack.

Threatening letters directed at Smollett were reportedly sent to Fox Studios in Chicago a week before.

"It's a lie, because Chicago is the most liberal city around", a customer from an Irish Pub near the scene of the crime said, adding it "doesn't really make sense".

However, the Chicago Police Department appears to be dismissing the evidence because they didn't find it, "It's unclear if that is related to the incident as it was not discovered during any of the earlier canvasses but we took it for analysis".
