Instead, they intend to take their hosts' temperature as to how much they would be willing to contribute in aid and investments to improve the lives of their brethren in the PA and especially in Gaza, the officials said.

White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and other administration officials are headed to the Middle East later this month to brief diplomats in at least five countries on the economic section of a USA proposal for peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

Kushner and Trump's Middle East envoy Jason Greenblatt will spend a week in Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar and possibly two other countries (We're in Bahrain, it must be Tuesday).

"Their [the Arab countries] support, I'm sure in some manner, will be conditioned on whether they are comfortable with the political plan", the official said.

" The economic plan only works if the region supports it", one official who briefed a small group of reporters said, according to Reuters. The economic plan is widely expected to include worldwide funding proposals for the impoverished Gaza Strip.

The visit will focus on the economic aspects of the plan, and leave out the politics, the officials said.

Beforehand, Kushner, Greenblatt and other administration officials will travel to the Warsaw conference on the Mideast on February 13-14 and meet with foreign officials regarding the peace plan.

"U.S. officials say Kushner will ask the Gulf states to contribute to the economic plan, but that he is not planning to discuss details from the political components of the plan during his tour of the region".

The Palestinian foreign ministry said the conference is aimed at pushing its participants to adopt American positions.

According to rumors, the new peace plan includes handing the new PA government-whether as a fully realized state or something less than that-the eastern part of Jerusalem to be turned into its future capital.

"The great stumbling block still ahead in the face of any emergent peace plan is the fact that the Palestinian leadership continues to boycott any Trump administration officials because of Trump's illegal recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel", Hanna said.

The Palestinian Authority has castigated the move, declared the United States no longer an honest broker in negotiations, and rejected any plan the White House may come out with, with PA President Mahmoud Abbas calling it the "slap of the century".
