Liam Neeson has come under fire after admitting that he once harboured violent thoughts about killing a black person in revenge after someone close to him was raped.

Liam said: 'She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way. "But my immediate reaction was ..."

The Schindler's List actor maintained that he is not a racist, and argued that "If she had said he was Irish, or a Scot, or a Brit or a Lithuanian, I know it would have had the same effect. She said it was a black person", Neeson said.

The 66-year-old actor said that he "went up and down areas with a cosh" hoping to kill a "black bastard", after being told that unnamed loved one had been sexually assaulted by a person of colour, with Nesson saying he regretted the incident.

"You can't blame him for that [how he felt] because as I said earlier, with the whole Raheem Sterling thing, talking about the influence the media has".

His racist language and horrifying past actions sparked fury from disappointed fans - some of whom threatened to boycott his films.

Neeson has been subject to huge criticism, since comments he made during an interview with The Independent were published on Monday.

He then added: "It was frightful, awful when I think back, that I did that. And I've never admitted that", he added.

Neeson said later in the interview that he learned from the experience how violence and revenge don't work, though he understands the primal need.

But his interview with Britain's The Independent took an unexpected turn when he admitted to once wanting to find a black man - any black man willing to pick a fight - to murder on the spot.

One user said, "Liam Neeson is definitely a reminder that there are folks who walk around hoping to provoke Black people so they can kill us". God forbid." He added, "All this stuff that's happening in the world, the violence, is proof of that, you know.
