Less than a week later and Kanter has found a new home in the Portland Trail Blazers, agreeing to a new deal according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Portland Trail Blazers have signed free agent center Enes Kanter, it was announced today by president of basketball operations Neil Olshey. "Let's go Rip City".

Kanter began this season with the New York Knicks.

The Knicks waived Kanter, 26, at the trade deadline last Thursday.

In eight seasons with Utah, Oklahoma City and New York, Kanter has averaged 11.9 points and 7.6 rebounds. But after playing in 44 games - including 23 starts - Kanter fell out of favor when the team chose to shift its priorities toward developing their young big men. He averaged 9.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in 17.9 minutes during the 2015-16 Western Conference playoffs, helping the Thunder reach the Western Conference finals.

After 1.5 seasons with the Knicks, Kanter only played in three of the team's last 12 games for head coach David Fizdale and voiced his displeasure with his role.

The Blazers are 33-23 on the season and tied with the Houston Rockets for fourth spot in the Western Conference standings and Kanter is expected to bring much needed rebounding and playoff experience to the roster. This is a really solid addition for the Blazers, who now have Kanter, Jusuf Nurkić, Meyers Leonard and Jake Layman manning the front court.
