SNASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) "will provide the annual release of global temperatures data and discuss the most important climate trends of 2018" in a teleconference today at 11:30 a.m. EST (1630 GMT).
The last five years were collectively the world's warmest on record, two of the largest USA science agencies announced on Wednesday.
The UN's World Meterological Organisation said in November that 2018 was set to be the fourth warmest year in recorded history, stressing the urgent need for action to rein in runaway planetary warming. But consider the context: The hottest five years on record are, in fact, the last five years.
"2018 is yet again an extremely warm year on top of a long-term global warming trend", said Goddard Institute director Gavin Schmidt.
That warming is driven by the amount of greenhouse gases humans have introduced into the atmosphere, particularly in the least 100 years, Schmidt said.
In 2015, nearly 200 governments adopted the Paris climate agreement to phase out the use of fossil fuels and limit the rise in temperatures between 1.5C to 2C, to avert "dangerous" man-made climate change.
A total of 6,300 weather stations, ship and buoy observations of sea surface temperatures, and Antarctic research stations were used in NASA's analyses.

Since the 1880s, the average global surface temperature has risen about one degree Celsius. With global emissions rising for the second year in a row, this disastrous trend shows no signs of changing any time soon.
The human toll also was high, with 247 killed and many more injured in weather and climate disasters.
NASA and NOAA climate scientists said even though 2018 was a tad cooler than the three previous years that's mostly due to random weather variations.
"If there was no warming of average temperatures, there would be about an even chance of a daily record high maximum or daily record low minimum occurring", said Meehl, who was not involved in the report.
The report also noted that the United States experienced 14 natural disasters in 2018 that each caused economic losses of over one billion dollars.
But the USA did get soaked in 2018, says Deke Arndt, a climate scientist with NOAA.
