The Quandrantid Meteor Shower peaked in the sky during last night.

No, the Super Blood Wolf Moon isn't another installment of the Twilight series (as supernatural as it sounds). As for the Blood Moon, expect to see the moon bathed in red.

Some believe it is a sign of the end of days.

NASA has announced multiple other upcoming fascinating astronomical events in 2019. Due to the time of day, it cannot be seen in India. There are two lunar eclipse occurring in 2019, in which the second lunar eclipse will occur on July 16-17, and it will be a partial lunar eclipse visible in India. A total lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, earth and moon are in a ideal line. The whole lunar event, including the total eclipse and partial eclipses, will last for 3.5 hours. Well, it's actually four separate lunar events occurring all at once, on January 20 and 21, 2019.

In the United Kingdom you will have the best chance to get a glance of the spectacle at 5.15am on January 21.

"The moon starts to enter into the Earth's shadow in a portion called the umbra when the sun is totally blocked out", he said.

This rare event will not be visible from across most parts of Asia, including India, though it can be viewed from across the America as well as parts of western Europe and Africa.

The rest of Europe and Africa will be able to catch the end of the eclipse. The July 27, 2018, Blood Moon was the longest of the century, clocking in at over one hour and 40 minutes. At its largest, it can appear 14% larger in diameter than the smallest full moon.

A supermoon appears when it is at a point during its orbit which is closest to each - or perigee.

Supermoon: This month's full moon will also be especially close to Earth, making it a so-called supermoon.

If that's not cool enough for you, this is the last total lunar eclipse until 2021 and marks the beginning of an exciting year for stargazers. The eclipse will also make the moon appear red because of the sunlight that passes through the earth's atmosphere.

Maximum Eclipse. Moon is closest to the center of the shadow.

It gets its name due to the reddish colour the moon takes on.

So what's the deal?: You'll need to be awake late into the night to see this sort of moon.

If you missed the full moon-meteor shower combo over Christmas, don't fret. It was named so by Native Americans and medieval Europeans, after the howling of hungry wolves lamenting the midwinter paucity of food.
