After the game the National Football League confirmed in a call to Payton that referees made the wrong call, according to USA Today. At first look, it appeared that Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman made a bang-bang play to defend the pass by taking out Lewis with a hit as the ball got to the receiver. Well, it turns out that Goodell could actually force the teams to play again or just straight up change the outcome.

The New Orleans Saints were robbed of going to the Super Bowl, and you better believe Daniel Cormier is none too pleased.

Then the team won the game in overtime after a 57-yard field goal.

The Saints were then forced to kick a field goal, which was matched by the Rams' Greg Zuerlein, who then booted the game victor from 57 yards in overtime.

Super Bowl LIII will take place on Sunday, February 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

"In light of the atrocious lack of calls during the New Orleans Saints game, we would like to extend free eye exams and glasses to any National Football League referee in need". A replay was shown over and over on the Superdome's giant video boards, prompting some fans to toss trash on the field.

"But for a game as important as the NFC (National Football Conference) championship, it sickens me to know that the people who are assigned to fairly officiate the game seemingly had no regard for not only a risky penalty but one that would certainly have changed the outcome of the game, " he vented.

It was another bitter end to the season for the Saints, who lost the previous season in the divisional round on the "Minnesota Miracle" - the Vikings' long touchdown pass on the final play of the game.

"Being that it happened right there in front of the person who would be the one to make the call, and everyone in the stands saw it, everyone watching at home on TV saw it, that makes it even more hard to take", Saints QB Drew Brees said.

With 1:29 to play in the first half, Gurley rushed 6 yards for a touchdown as the Rams trailed 13-10.

The Rams went on to tie the game with 5:03 to go in the fourth quarter, thanks to a 24-yard field goal from kicker Greg Zuerlien.

"There's a lot happening out there and it happens very, very fast", Brees said.

And after watching the tape of their remarkable win, the Rams had a few questions of their own for the officiating crew.
