On Friday, his lawyer Steve Greenberg gave an interview with the Associated Press in which he strongly denied the allegations levelled at his client.

Shortly after Lifetime premiered its new docuseries Surviving R. Kelly, R. Kelly's attorney spoke to ABC News to address the abuse allegations against the singer.

"I am well aware of who and what he is", she said.

"I've seen some of the interviews on it", Greenberg said.

Singer R. Kelly attends the Ovadia & Sons front row during New York Fashion Week: Men's S/S 2016 at Skylight Clarkson Sq on July 14, 2015 in New York City.

"The allegations aren't true because he never knowingly had sex with an underage woman, he never forced anyone to do anything, he never held anyone captive, he never abused anyone", he said.

Watts went on to say to the newspaper that he and the rest of the executives decided it would be best to cut ties with R. Kelly due to the current political and cultural landscape, especially with the rise of the #MeToo movement.

"We know what happened, and we know those things didn't happen", lawyer, Steven Greenberg, said.

Watts said in their statement that their business includes women who work there, and they all have women in their families, as friends, and in relationships, so by all good consciousness, he can't allow having the embattled R & B legend's music on their platform.

When it comes to the many celebs who have begun to distance themselves from Kelly since the release of the series, Greenberg took aim at Lady Gaga specifically.

Earlier this week, Mr Greenberg confirmed that R.Kelly Wednesday late singer Aaliyah, who died in a place crash in 2001, when she was 15 years old and he was 27, saying she lied about her age and likening their marriage to that of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, who was 21 when they married in 1967. "Except that my understanding is that she did not claim to be 15 and, in order to get married, she had to lie about her age".
