A Kentucky school district says a teacher seen dragging an elementary student on video no longer teaches at the school.

On Sunday, the mother of the Greenup County student posted a video on Facebook of her son who has autism being dragged in the hallway at Wurtland Elementary School.

Abrams is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, according to Greenup court records.

She says her son has been diagnosed with "autism, ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, and depression", and that he also has limited speech.

Nelson also said that she was told that her son was doing schoolwork in his classroom when his third-grade teacher "wanted him to do more".

The school district hasn't released the teacher's name. "Child Protective Services was contacted and the Kentucky State Police opened an investigation", Superintendent Sherry Horsley said in a statement to WSAZ-TV.

The family says the woman in the video was in charge of the special needs program at the school.

Angel Nelson added to ABC News she wants more cameras in schools and that the camera in the room where Alan was ultimately taken did not show what happened in that room. Nelson called the teacher's actions "violent enough" that it destroyed the child's shoes.

"My son deserves justice", the boy's mother, Angel Nelson, wrote on Facebook.

Nelson said that when she first met with Abrams at their initial IEP (Individualized Education Program) meeting upon enrolling her son at Wurtland, Abrams assured her and her husband that she had years of experience and that her son was in good hands.

"The teacher was removed from the school and a formal investigation was conducted", the statement read.

The boy's stepfather, Calep Nelson believes the teacher losing her job isn't enough.

"I'm not surprised", Heskins said about the four incidents, "Restraint is an intervention that is much misused across the state". "He had an outburst and they were trying to remove him from the classroom but she restrained him the wrong way, and it was 100% preventable", she said.

"The Greenup County School District prioritizes the safety of our students". "Each school has a specially trained team to address immediate issues".

Nelson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment. Yesterday, district officials confirmed the teacher in question had been "removed from the school". "We should never have to worry about anything like this ever happening".

When you send your child to school you want them to be safe.

"It is my belief that all schools should be required to have cameras in place (that cannot be turned to a corner) in order to protect students and teachers", the mother added.

Nelson told the Daily Dot she got word of the incident from the principal, but didn't see the video until her lawyer subpoenaed it from the school. "She didn't beat him to a bloody pulp, but she did abuse a child. That commitment to protect kids is especially imperative when it comes to vulnerable children, who may not have the requisite skills to advocate for themselves". He said there is a delicate balance when it comes to faculty and staff.
