Congressional Dems ‘Exasperated’ With Ocasio-Cortez: ‘Don’t Attack Your Own People’

Pelosi Ocasio Cortez Hug Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Schools Joe Lieberman Over Remarks That She’s Too ‘Controversial’

The Politico report follows criticism from high profile former members of Congress like Democrat Claire McCaskill, a former senator from Missouri.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) - who is also a black Methodist pastor - issued some valid advice to the congresswoman in a recent comment to Politico, which was published Friday.

Possibly the "crying while laughing" emoji Ocasio-Cortez included in her tweet was a signal to all that her response should be taken in good fun.

"I'm sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there's nearly an outstanding rule: Don't attack your own people", Representative Emmanuel Cleaver (D., Mo.) told Politico. "We just don't need sniping in our Democratic Caucus". She has proposed a 70 percent tax on the wealthiest Americans to fund her New Green Deal.

Even before taking office, she was reported to have recruited an unidentified woman to challenge Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., in 2020. "She doesn't understand how the place works yet".

Twitter, with its younger-than-1000-years-old demographic, doubled over with laughter at Ocasio-Cortez's clapback at the former Senator.

Lawmakers have been quietly criticizing the NY newcomer and are hoping to rein in her criticism of those in her own party, Politico reported, citing almost 20 lawmakers and aides.

Some lawmakers are trying to convince Ocasio-Cortez to use her influence to unite Democrats, while others have warned her that she's headed for a lonely tenure in Congress if she treats her more moderate colleagues as enemies, the report said.

"With all respect", he told FOX Business' Neil Cavuto on Thursday, "I certainly hope she's not the future and I don't believe she is".

However, Ocasio-Cortez has seen an explosion in popularity, thanks especially to Facebook and Twitter, neither of which existed when Lieberman ran for vice president in 2000.
