Hotstar, the online streaming partner of popular chat show Koffee With Karan, has pulled down the episode featuring Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. The episode was aired this Sunday on Star World and was available on Star's OTT platform Hotstar.

On Thursday, Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai had recommended a two-ODI ban for the duo.

In the episode, which was aired on January 6, Hardik Pandya made remarks that were sexist, misogynist and racist. "Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul suspended pending an inquiry into their controversial comments on women", he said. I had asked Diana [Edulji] to suggest penalty because I had not seen the clip.

Pandya, whose remarks on Koffee with Karan were criticised as sexist, apologised for his remarks in a Twitter post, saying he got "carried away by the nature" of the Karan Johar-hosted show. The Indian cricketers also had to face the rage of the BCCI who issued them show cause notices for their derogatory comments made on women in the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. "I think we need to give both of them a two-match suspension", Rai told IANS over email.

Chaudhry raised concerns about the permissions taken by the players before appearing on the show, the disrepute it brought to other Indian cricketers and about how these comments leave them open to honeytraps that players are trained to avoid in ICC ACSU briefings.

India will play three one-dayers against Australia after winning their first ever Test series in the country 2-1. The BCCI will announce Friday whether it plans to ban or suspend them, which has delayed the announcement of India's squad for the first ODI against Australia, slated to take place Saturday in Sydney. "The two players concerned have realised what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude of what has happened", he said.

Speaking with the media ahead of the match, Indian cricket team's current captain Virat Kohli addressed the controversy: "We, as the Indian cricket team and responsible cricketers, don't align with those views".
