Trump shreds Tillerson ex-Secretary of State, vows own Russian Federation report

Rex Tillerson,Donald Trump,US Tillerson In First Public Appearance Says Trump 'Undisciplined,' 'Doesn't Read'

"He was lazy as hell".

"These are the best people", the "CNN Tonight" host sarcastically noted as he examined Trump's escalating war of words with former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who he called "dumb as a rock and lazy as hell" earlier in the day.

In the same evening, Tillerson went on to dispute Trump's allegations against the Russian Federation inquiry.

Donald Trump fired Rex Tillerson by tweet after their relationship soured.

"Now it is a whole new ballgame, great spirit at State!" he said.

While they often disagreed, Tillerson, who spent his whole career at "the disciplined, highly process-oriented" Exxon before retiring and becoming the top US diplomat, said he did not know how else to conduct himself with Trump except in "a really straightforward fashion".

"When the president would say, 'Here's what I want to do and here's how I want to do it, ' I'd have to say to him, 'Mr. It violates the law", Tillerson said, adding that he didn't want to criticize Trump. "I think he's trying to act on his instincts".

The US President lashed out at Mr Tillerson in an unprecedented series on insults published earlier today on Twitter.

"He acts on his instincts, in some respects it looks like impulsiveness..."

To be clear, the bit about doing things in unlawful ways refers not to criminal schemes but to Trump sometimes not understanding what existing law did and didn't allow him to do in setting policy unilaterally as president.

Thursday night marked a rare occurrence for Tillerson when answered questions about his tenure in the Trump administration and directly mentioned the President.

He recently delivered a commencement speech in May at the Virginia Military Institute where he appeared to take a veiled shot at Trump, saying that when we "go wobbly on the truth. we go wobbly on America".

Trump's tweet was in stark contrast with former posts about Tillerson.

The president tweeted praise for his current secretary of state, Mike Pompeo, while directing a torrent of abuse toward his predecessor.

Tillerson, a former chief executive of oil giant ExxonMobil, had no government experience and had never met Trump when his nomination was promoted by Republican Party insiders, who hoped for a stable figure who could nonetheless appeal to the tycoon-turned-president with his outsider status and business background.
