Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 earns Rs 500 crore worldwide

Released in over 600 screens in Tamil Nadu, 2.0 got a slow start at the box office as it raked in about Rs 18.2 crore on the first day.

On Tuesday, 2.0 made 11.50 crores thus witnessing a drop of 43% from opening day collections of 20.25 crores and 16% drop from Monday figures of 13.75 crores. The film, which hit screens on November 29, has touched the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide within seven days of its release. According to film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, "2.0" is also going to be Akshay Kumar's biggest hit film ever. The Hindi version is also likely to emerge Kumar's high grossing film ever after its Thursday collections come in.

Co-distributor Karan Johar shared his excitement and tweeted, "CREATING HISTORY!"

In his recent interview, Shankar has said that if a proper idea pops up, he is game for "3.0" but the director only prefers Rajinikanth to play any form of Chitti. Interestingly, the maker are also planning to release the film in China in more than 10,000 theaters in May 2019.

The Hindi version of sci-fi action flick 2.0 is doing great at the box office. The actor has already scored a box office hattrick with Gold and Pad Man.
