Boca Juniors fans wave their team off in Buenos Aires Copa Libertadores: Boca Juniors star Carlos Tevez on 'weird' Madrid final against rivals River Plate

Boca based their appeal on a similar situation three years ago when they were kicked out of the Libertadores, South America's top club competition, after their fans attacked River players with pepper spray at halftime during the first leg of their last 16 showdown.

And with global interest, a select group of River Plate fans caused the fixture to be postponed following an attack on the team bus that injured several Boca players.

The Argentine, who was also reportedly a target for Barca, will miss Sunday's second leg against Boca Juniors due to injury, but his agent Renato Corsi confirmed they will begin negotiations with Real after the final.

Boca filed their appeal to sport's highest court on Friday after the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) rejected their claim that River Plate should be disqualified from the continent's equivalent of Europe's Champions League.

The club then took the case to Cas, also asking it to consider "an urgent request for provisional measure" to suspend Sunday's game.

Carlos Tevez believes that moving the Copa Libertadores final second leg to Madrid is "embarrassing for the people".

"Palacios is hurt that he can not play the Copa final in El Monumental, a dream for him as a River Plate fan", Corsi was quoted saying by Diario AS.
