Michelle Obama Tried to 'Block It All Out' After Trump Won Presidency

Michelle Obama: Trump’s Birther Lies Were Meant To ‘Stir Up Wignuts And Kooks’ Michelle Obama Tried to 'Block It All Out' After Trump Won Presidency

Former first lady Michelle Obama says she can never forgive President Donald Trump for spreading rumors that her husband was not born in America, according to excerpts from her upcoming book that was obtained by The Washington Post. Michelle expressed rage, particularly Trump's baseless birther allegation that Barack was not born in the U.S. She says it was absolutely meant to stir up bigotry and xenophobia, "deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks".

"The whole (birther) thing was insane and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed", she writes, in excerpts of the book published by ABC News and The Washington Post. It will be released next Tuesday. She writes that Trump's central role in pushing the falsehood put her family at risk. "And for this I'd never forgive him".

Michelle Obama blasts President Donald Trump in her new book, recalling how she reacted in shock the night she learned he would replace her husband in the Oval Office and tried to "block it all out". "I'll give you some back", he told reporters at the White House before heading on a trip to France. I'll never forgive [Barack Obama] for what he did to our United States military. "(...) What he did to our military made this country unsafe".

"The whole thing was insane and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed", the former First Lady wrote. "But it was also risky, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks".

She remembers how her body "buzzed with fury" after seeing the infamous "Access Hollywood" tape, in which Trump brags about sexually assaulting women.

"I guess she wrote a book".

Shonda Rhimes, the producer behind the television shows "Grey's Anatomy" and "Scandal", praised the memoir as trailblazing yet relatable.

"I was very surprised, pleasantly surprised, by the level of candor and the level at which she opened herself up", she added.

The rallies were part of her work as co-chairman of the nonpartisan, nonprofit organization When We All Vote.

Obama also reiterates that politics isn't for her, alluding to her previous dismissal of a potential 2020 presidential run.
