Facebook Messenger is finally going to introduce a lifesaving 'unsend' feature

Katie Ramirez | 08 November, 2018, 19:02

You may soon do that as Facebook is set to introduce a feature that would allow users to delete messages that have already been sent in its Messenger app.

A Twitter user spotted the feature listed as "coming soon" in the release notes for version 191.0 of Messenger's iOS client, The Verge reported on Wednesday.

Having the option to remove a message from a chat thread after it's been sent is great, but a 10-minute window seems a bit short. At least, that's how its worked for users whose name isn't Mark Zuckerberg.

Hopefully this leads to a serious decrease in the amount of people waking up with the fear as a result of a stupid message sent the night before. Said something embarrassing? Don't worry, you can unsend that Facebook message, but you better be fast!

Users may now delete messages on the Messenger app but it only reflects on the sender's end and remains on the recipient's thread.

The option was first announced in April, followed by testing later in October. Gmail actually holds the email in a que for the time interval chosen. If your recipient is looking at their phone when you message them, or if they open the app before you can undo your action, there's not much you can do to take back your words.
