What will UNESCO think of horse racing ads on the Opera House?
Sydney Opera House executive Louise Herron

A spokesman for UNESCO told the Guardian that the World Heritage Center is "looking into this" advertisement, but declined to comment further.
State Premier Gladys Berejiklian said on Monday the advertising for The Everest horse race had been "toned down" since its original proposal.
It came to a head on Friday when radio broadcaster Alan Jones berated Opera House executive Louise Herron on air as she defended the World Heritage-listed building against being used as a "commercial billboard". Jones is regarded by many politicians as having great influence over voters. V'landys said he wanted a barrier draw, complete with the competing horses' names and numbers, and an image of The Everest trophy to appear instead. Opponents plan a flashlight protest on Tuesday to try and disrupt the lightshow. "I don't know why people are getting so precious about it", Morrison said.
"It's not like they're painting it on there. I mean, it's some lights flashing up there for a brief moment of time", he added.
"I am absolutely offended on behalf of Louise Herron that Alan Jones could treat a woman on radio who runs this organisation in such an appalling way".
Anti-gambling advocates deplored using the Opera House to promote gambling in a country that has the world's highest gambling losses per adult.
"The Opera House should not be downgraded by gambling promotions when NSW is already the most gambling-captured jurisdiction where residents lost nearly $7 billion a year on 92,000 poker machines", he told ten daily.
There are others though who are strongly in favour, with one supporter saying: "Gamblers paid for the Opera House Peter with a lottery".
"Have you ever seen a film about Australia where you don't see the plane coming in over Sydney, flying in over the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge?"
"If we said yes to this, "we're fine to put the Everest logo on there" our policy is worthless to us, we're just going to allow whoever comes along to use the Opera House as a billboard, we would lose our World Heritage status", she told local media.
Mr Morrison, as Tourism Australia director in the mid-2000s, oversaw the controversial ad campaign featuring model Lara Bingle asking would-be visitors "Where the bloody hell are you?"
Last week, the Sydney Opera House board rejected the advert for the Everest Cup - arguing it was an "inappropriate" commercialisation.
