Brooks Koepka added another accolade to a sensational season on Tuesday when, as had been widely expected, he was named PGA Tour Player of the Year following a 2017-18 campaign highlighted by two major victories.
Koepka retained his U.S. Open title and won the US PGA Championship to take his haul of majors to three in 2017-18, but he was unable to help the United States beat Europe at Le Golf National.
Koepka, 28, this year became the fifth player to win both of those majors in the same season, the first since Tiger Woods in 2000.
Koepka won the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills to become the first player to go back-to-back since 1989.
Koepka's third major championship came quickly after.

Justin Thomas, who won the award last year, finished second to Koepka in the points standings that determine the PGA of America's Player of the Year award.
As for the PGA Tour Player of the year honours, he'd all but wrapped those up in the views of the players. "But they're as close as they've ever been, and it really had no effect on either one of them".
Other finalists for the award included Englishman Justin Rose, British Open champion Francesco Molinari of Italy and Americans Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas.
Many were not sure how Brooks would play this year.
