A mother has been left severely bruised after becoming a human shield in order to save her baby from extreme hail

Fiona Simpson, 23, was driving in southern Queensland with her 78-year-old grandmother and 4-month-old daughter, Clara, on Thursday when the weather suddenly took a turn for the worse, the Australian Broadcasting Company (ABC) reports. She later posted confronting images of her injuries on social media, her back, shoulders and arms a mess of angry welts and bruises.
