Ahead of this year's German Grand Prix, Bottas was handed a deal keeping him with Mercedes for the duration of the 2019 F1 campaign.

Bottas has instead been left to play the team game and help Lewis Hamilton win the title after it became apparent the championship race was between Bottas' team mate and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, a race that could be over this weekend.

The Finn insists he is taking no notice of the rumours though and he says his fate is in his hands.

"If for some reason I don't get results then it will be my mistake".

While Russell has signed a multi-year contract, former champions Williams have yet to confirm who will occupy the second seat.

"We are prepared for "Plan B" with Esteban, one thing I can guarantee for you is he's going to be in a good auto in 2020 because there are many teams out there that have an interest in Esteban".

The Frenchman's hopes of staying on the grid have looked slim since Force India's takeover mid-season by Lawrence Stroll, who is keen to put son Lance in the auto for 2019, leaving Ocon without a drive following failed negotiations with Renault and McLaren.

"Still discussions, there are still possibilities for me next year".

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says he "can guarantee" that Esteban Ocon will be in a "good car" in 2020, amid the ongoing saga surrounding his future.

Esteban Ocon, also backed by Mercedes, could be one option with the Frenchman highly-rated but set to lose his Force India seat to Stroll.

"He signed for multiple years, that was not our intention to sign for those many years".

Despite that, she said Williams should have a similar budget next year to 2018 and the main consideration for the second seat had to be talent.
