National Football League fines Bengals' Burfict $112000 for hits

Bengals LB Burfict fined $112K for hits vs. Steelers Vontaze Burfict of Cincinnati Bengals fined $112,000 for hits in Pittsburgh Steelers game

The NFL reviewed at least three plays involving Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict from his team's Week 6 encounter with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The league didn't specify how many hits "multiple" represent, but two were cited specifically: He hit Antonio Brown, a forearm/elbow driven to the head, with 11:19 left. The league also considered a third-quarter hit on Steelers running back James Connor to be worthy of unnecessary roughness.

The hits drew the ire of the Steelers, particularly quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who this week called out Burfict's antics during and after his elbow shot on Brown.

Right tackle Marcus Gilbert also took issue with Burfict's behavior, calling it "pathetic" "sad", and telling reporters "hopefully one of these days (Burfict) grows up".

"He hits A.B., then, literally, as I am under center for the next play, he points at JuJu and says, 'You're next,'" Roethlisberger said after the game, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

I know a lot of fans clamor for Burfict to be banned or suspended but this is probably the best the National Football League can do. The Bengals are 4-2 in 2018, tied with the Ravens for first place in the AFC North.
