Former FBI Director Andrew McCabe, whose termination triggered allegations of retribution, is accusing the bureau of stalling the publication of his book, "The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump".

In May 2017, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and then-FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe argued that the other man should recuse himself from any role in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation - while Mueller looked on. On the presidential campaign trail, President Donald Trump had repeatedly pointed to Democratic super PAC political donations to Jill McCabe's campaign as evidence of McCabe's political bias, and Rosenstein used the T-shirt photo as grounds for why a recusal may be necessary.

"Andy McCabe is a bad guy and Comey is a bad guy", Trump said in an interview on television's "Fox & Friends".

The FBI isn't immediately responding to a request for comment. However, McCabe thought it was Rosenstein who should remove himself.

McCabe's memos documenting the Rosenstein meeting were turned over to the special counsel Mueller. The Republican-controlled House Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena for the documents, but they were not provided by the October 4 deadline.

McCabe was sacked in March for what the Justice Department called a lack of candor.

Trump has tried to undermine the FBI and Justice Department, calling their investigation of his presidential campaign and its possible connection to Russian Federation "a witch hunt".
