The incident is the second close encounter Kohli has had with an Indian cricket fan after he was approached by a group of fans hoping for a selfie during the first Test between India and the West Indies at Rajkot last week.

Kohli was fielding at mid-wicket when the fan ran onto the field and embraced the Indian star, before Kohli resisted his awkward advances by pushing off the fan.

The pacer, who was handed over the Test cap by coach Ravi Shastri this morning, bowled just 1.4 overs before leaving the ground due to pain in the groin region.

In reply, India were in trouble at 162-4 with West Indies skipper Jason Holder taking two wickets - including his counterpart Virat Kohli's prized scalp in the afternoon session.

Teenage opener Prithvi Shaw also smashed 70 off 53 balls as India mounted a strong reply only to lose to their way after lunch.

This is the second time in this series that a pitch invader has disrupted play.

Kohli tried to steady the innings with some fluent stroke play as he built a 60-run partnership with Rahane but was denied what could have been his 20th Test fifty as Holder trapped him lbw for 45. West Indies, which began the day with 295 for 7, could only add 16 runs to take their total to 311.
