A SC cancer survivor says he was reduced to tears after a business owner told him to cover his disfigured face while eating in her convenience store. He proceeded to buy a pack of donuts and a drink and went and sit down at one of the tables but, before he could get seated at a table, the owner, Donna Crosby, grabbed him by his shirt and pulled him into her office.

"It hurt deep inside", Evans told WCSC. "How can a person eat anything with his face covered?"

Evans said he had his left eye and entire nose removed after surgery to remove basal cell carcinoma, a type of skin cancer, from his face seven years ago. "My father is also on a fixed income and cannot afford the surgeries it would to take to fix. where his nose was", she wrote.

Her post unleashed an avalanche of anger toward the owner and an outpouring of empathy for Kirby, with people posting offers of surgery and prostheses on his daughter's account. I told him I was very sorry for what had happened to him in his life; that I could tell he had been through a lot with the extreme disformation [sic] of his face. "He can not help what the cancer did to him", she wrote in the post.

'She told him "If he was going to eat in here he would have to cover his face".

Employees at the store said Thursday that she had not been to work since the incident allegedly happened. I promise you he will never ever set foot in that store again!

'He can not help what the cancer did to him'.

"My father is the strongest man I know but, as he told me what happened to him, I watched tears roll out of his eye", she wrote. "You discriminated against MY farther (Kirby Evans) for the way he looks". He would come in at lunch time and sit at the food booths right at my busy time everyday. I had no choice! The post was shared more than 8,000 times as of Friday morning. "It was running my customers off".

Mr Evans himself told WCIV he was talking about the incident so the shop manager and others can "find it in her heart to treat people with disabilities in a different manner".

WCSC said the store owner could not be reached for comment, but through her husband she told the TV station the store is wrongfully accused.
