The changing death toll from Hurricane Maria

Trump has come under increasing criticism as he insists that the estimated death toll of 3,000 people on Puerto Rico is incorrect and a lie meant to hurt him politically.

A study commissioned by the Puerto Rican government said the number was nearly 3,000 people, something Trump shot down on Twitter.

Almost 3,000 deaths have been attributed to Hurricane Maria, making it the second-deadliest storm in the US. Over many months it went to 64 PEOPLE. It's not that hurricanes can't kill that many people or more.

"The team found that lack of communication, well-established guidelines and training for physicians on how to certify deaths in disasters resulted in a limited number of deaths being identified as hurricane-related", read the study.

Stephen Colbert is not too happy with President Donald Trump's recent challenges to the viral death toll numbers in Puerto Rico caused by Hurricane Maria previous year. Trump believed those recovery efforts were a success story he could use to turn the tide of negative press stories after a troubled August, said one official who was not authorized to speak publicly.

President Donald Trump has reportedly been fixated on unflattering news reports about his response to Hurricane Maria, which slammed Puerto Rico in September 2017. "When Trump arrived in Puerto Rico, he threw paper towels at the people when they were actually asking for help and while he was doing that, people were dying all around him", said Ortiz.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Friday said she didn't want to dwell on the president's comments, but felt compelled to respond on behalf of hurricane victims.

In January, Cora led a Red Sox delegation to Puerto Rico to distribute aid. After the Hurricane become bigger, people migrated to the community of Ceiba, located in Puerto Rico Which is considered a high ground.

The president tweeted on Thursday as Hurricane Florence bore down on the Carolinas.

"I hate that people make it a political issue", Cora said before Thursday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. If you're suggesting that every person who gets sick and dies months after a storm comes through because the infrastructure is inadequate, or medical supplies aren't available, or because they were bitten by a dog who might have been too hungry because he lost his owners in the storm, are directly attributable to the hurricane, then...

He said: "When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths".

In response to President Trump's tweet, the Milken Institute released a statement saying they stand by their study, calling the 2,975 death toll number "the most accurate and unbiased estimate of excess mortality to date". Hurricane Florence (by now a tropical storm) dumped more than a foot of rain in some places between Friday and Saturday mornings and is expected to continue moving slowly, dumping more rain over the area throughout the weekend.
