The Springboks have recorded a famous victory, beating the All Blacks in their Rugby Championship clash in Wellington on Saturday.

"We threw everything at them, my boys kept working hard but the South Africans defended outstandingly well and obviously deserved their win".

It took an almighty show of resolve from Rassie Eramus' side, who saw a 14-point second-half advantage chipped away with the situation not helped by a late yellow card for Willie le Roux.

This was the All Blacks' first loss in this season's competition.

Not to be outdone, his counterpart Dyantyi scored his second moments later, before New Zealand hooker Codie Taylor rumbled over from a rolling maul to ensure a mouth-watering final 20 minutes.

Steve Hansen's men were beaten 34-36 in their own backyard this morning by a resilient Springbok side who came into the game after back-to-back losses to Argentina and Australia.

Beauden Barrett missed the conversion but the All Blacks launched another attack a few minutes later with a move that included Ben Smith and Anton Lienert-Brown but the Springboks managed to defend.

The Boks took the lead after 25 minutes as Le Roux intercepted Jordie Barrettt's pass from a lineout to score a try that was converted by Pollard as the visitors took a two-point lead.

Three minutes from the break‚ the All Blacks reduced the deficit to four points through crowd favourite Rieko Ioane but Beauden Barrett missed his second conversion.

An inevitable barrage followed and Ardie Savea scored in similar fashion to Taylor, but Barrett once again failed with a simple-looking kick that rebounded off the post.

Of course, there are plenty more games to play before Ireland welcome New Zealand to the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 17 November but it adds yet another interesting narrative to what should be a superb fixture between the two best teams in the world.
