Three-time Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie, known for powerhouse performances on Broadway in "Ragtime", "Passion" and "Kiss Me, Kate", has died.

Three-time Tony Award nominee Marin Mazzie has been heard in numerous country's major symphony halls, cabaret and concert venues, and has been seen starring in some of the most memorable musicals on the Broadway stage and in London's West End.

She is survived by her husband and fellow actor Jason Danieley.

Ms. Mazzie was born October 9, 1960, in Rockford, Illinois, and studied theatre and music at Western Michigan University.

Mazzie made her Broadway debut in 1985 in the Huckleberry Finn musical Big River. Her starring role in 1999's Kiss Me, Kate brought her third nomination. Other Broadway credits included Enron and Next to Normal. The performance also won her a 2000 Outer Critics Circle Award.

She most recently starred in the 2015 Broadway revival of The King and I. She met Danieley when both appeared in the Off Broadway 1996 production Trojan Women: A Love Story. She has been seen with the NY Philharmonic in two of their PBS specials: SONDHEIM: THE BIRTHDAY CONCERT and their Live at Lincoln Center performance of CAMELOT as Guenevere. They released Opposite You, an album of duets, in 2005, and wrote an autobiographical cabaret show titled He Said/She Said.

Mazzie also made notable guest appearances on television series such as Without a Trace, Still Standing, Nurse Jackie, The Big C, and Smash. They had planned to unveil a new show, Heart to Heart, in NY this past June, but were forced to cancel due to Mazzie's health.

Next, she went on to introduce one of the most beloved theatre songs of the 1990s, "Back to Before", in the 1998 Ahrens & Flaherty musical Ragtime, playing a mother at the turn of the 20th century who has her eyes opened about race relations, the true nature of her relationship with her husband, and her own privilege.

Mazzie was regarded as a dedicated performer by all who knew her, notably refusing to pull out of a 2015 concert production of Zorba! on the day she received her initial cancer diagnosis.
