California is launching its 'own damn satellite' to track climate pollutants

California Governor Jerry Brown on Friday pledged to launch a satellite that will track and detect the sources of climate pollutants, his state's latest effort to challenge the Trump administration's skepticism about the science of climate change.
"Today, we announce that this "bottom up" movement will put us within striking distance of the USA commitment to the Paris Agreement, even with zero support from our federal government", Bloomberg said, according to The Nation.
Government leaders, businesses and civil society representatives flocked to the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California, to attend the GCAS, a summit from September 12 to 14.
