Former Richmond teammate Matthew Richardson said he couldn't believe the new charges relating to Cousins' ex-partner.

Earlier this month, Cousins allegedly picked up Tinecheff from Burswood and threatened her with a screwdriver.

The 40-year-old was arrested on Tuesday at a house in Canning Vale, south of Perth, and was allegedly found with 13 grams of methylamphetamine hidden in his anus.

"I am the victim in this, I am no danger to her or those children", he said.

He is due to appear in the Armadale Magistrate's Court today.

On Wednesday he was charged with 16 offences including aggravated burglary, aggravated stalking and possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply.

"I am going to kill you, I will take your life and all the things you love, ' the Police Prosecutor told the court Cousins said to his ex-partner."

Cousins is also accused of saying he was going to bury her auto "where she would survive for a couple of days" then he would "bring the kids to play, so she would hear them but would not be able to get to them". When asked to remove the bag, Cousins allegedly agreed before attempting to push it further inside.

Cousins, arrested in Perth, reportedly begged and cried during procedures, telling his lawyer "I can't go back [to jail]".

In a lengthy and emotional rant, Cousins applied for bail against Mr Tudori's advice.

"When you read the stuff about his kids, he needs to be in jail".

Ex-St Kilda player, Nick Riewoldt, also revealed on AFL 360 that an hour-long conversation he had with Cousins in a hotel lobby left him "sad" and "concerned".

'I'm going to kill you.

The Brownlow medallist said he was anxious about not being part of his children's lives.

He returns to court in October.

Cousins was released from prison in January having served more than 10 months for stalking and repeatedly breaking a restraining order.

Cousins played 238 games for West Coast between 1996 and 2007.
