Broadcaster ABC said it was Harris who decided in what order they should leave, in an operation that culminated in joy on Tuesday when Thailand's Navy SEALs declared the whole team was safely out, 18 days after the ordeal began.

19 divers are involved in the mission to bring the last four boys and their coach to safety, and more will enter gradually through the day.

Information on the rescue operation, the health of those rescued - and their identities - has been tightly guarded by Thai authorities.

The eight boys brought out by divers over the previous two days are in "high spirits", a senior health official said.

Thongchai said the soccer teammates are in a "very good mental state" and are showing no signs of stress.

Musk said on Twitter: "Just returned from Cave 3".

Rescuers will guide the remaining five members of a youth football squad out from inside a flooded Thai cave on Tuesday, the chief of the painstaking operation to free them told reporters.

A screen grab shows people looking through glass at the boys rescued from the Thai cave at a hospital in Chiang Rai, Thailand from a July 11, 2018 handout video.

They were described as in "good health" and reportedly asked for a KFC as they got their appetite back.

Eight of the boys have already been rescued, while four remain.

More news: England nowhere near their potential, says manager Gareth Southgate

There are concerns they may have consumed contaminated water, while bird or bat droppings could cause infections.

"FIFA's priority remains the health of everyone involved in the operation and we will look into finding a new opportunity to invite the boys to a Federation Internationale de Football Association event to share with them a moment of communion and celebration".

The rescuers have been learning from experience and were two hours faster in bringing the second batch of survivors out on Monday.

But scattered monsoon rains continued to risk percolating through the limestone cave walls to flood the tunnels with water.

A crack team of foreign divers and Thai Navy SEALS has been guiding the boys out through almost 4 km (2.5 miles) of sometimes submerged, pitch-dark channels. They began again at 11 am on Monday after the teams had stopped for the night to rest and to replenish equipment and oxygen supplies.

One of the more hard parts in getting out of the cave system is a bottleneck that is only 38cm by 72cm at its smallest - so narrow that divers have to remove their tanks to fit through the gap.

England defender Kyle Walker sought out the boys' contact information to send them jerseys.

Narongsak said the rescued boys had not been identified out of respect for the families whose sons were still trapped, adding that the boys were being kept away from their parents due to fear of infection.

He was taken by helicopter and then ambulance to the hospital in Chiang Rai were the first four boys, who were rescued on Sunday, are now being held in quarantine as they undergo tests.

Several ambulances were seen leaving the rescue site at around 12:40 p.m. local time, although it was unclear if the boys were inside.
