A Russian cargo ship delivered a fresh load of fuel, food, and other supplies for the International Space Station on Tuesday, making it in record time.

Russian Federation has consistently tried to keep cargo trips to the space station below six hours, setting a new precedent for a trip which used to take two days.

The swiftest former trips to the ISS secured a by Progress freighters and employees team conveying Russian Soyuz spacecraft, had engaged about 6 hours and demanded about four orbits of our planet.

The entire event since the launch of the unmanned spacecraft until docking aired live on NASA Television and the agency's website.

The spacecraft will remain docked at the ISS until January 2019, NASA officials said in the statement.

Progress spacecraft are disposable vehicles that are packed with trash and unneeded items and intentionally burned up in Earth's atmosphere at mission's end.

Russian Federation made space history on Tuesday with the fastest cargo mission ever to the International Space Station. The new module was originally scheduled to launch in 2007 but has suffered several delays over the last decade.

Now, if you don't keep up with the minutia of space travel that might just sound like a number, so to give you some context, the previous record was five hours and 39 minutes. The abbreviated two-orbit rendezvous space station would be a first for the program.

It marked the first time such a fast-track approach was used. In the past, it took the Progress ships about six hours or two days to reach the space outpost.
