Fiat workers livid over Juventus' blockbuster deal with Ronaldo Fiat staff to strike over Cristiano Ronaldo’s £88 million Juventus move

A statement released by the union said: "It is unacceptable that while the [owners] ask workers of FCA. for huge economic sacrifices for years, the same decide to spend hundreds of millions of euros for the purchase of a player".

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) workers have announced that they will strike against the signing of footballer Cristiano Ronaldo for Juventus Football Club, which is supported by Exor, the same investor as the vehicle maker.

For the USB union, the decision means Fiat is missing out on investment.

Juventus paid 100 million euros (roughly $117 million) to secure Ronaldo's departure from Spain, with an additional 12 million euros (roughly $14 million) in a fees to sign the 33 year old to a four-year contract, ESPN reported. However, there is only one man who knows if what Giggs asserted is true and what the reasons behind the move to Juventus were, and that is Cristiano Ronaldo.

He added: "The marketing leverage that Juventus will be able to create will be significant".

He is the Spanish club's all-time top scorer with 450 goals in all competitions and won two La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies with them. "That means more sponsors, more TV money and more prize money".

Real Madrid are being strongly linked with an approach for the attacker - especially after the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo - but according to AS, PSG will do everything that they can to avoid a sale. "I'm proud to be a part of this team, this family, and the black and white are the colours that I'm going to be defending from now on".

Both Fiat Chrysler (FCA) and Juventus are controlled by Exor, the investment holding of Italy's Agnelli family, which owns almost 30 percent of the carmaker and 64 percent of the soccer team.

It's calling for a strike at the Melfi plant in southern Italy between 10 p.m. on July 15 and 6 p.m. on July 17.
