Pakistan beat Australia by 45 runs in T20 tri-series

"I thought it was a 170 wicket. I thought we let them get away a little bit- Finch

It is also Pakistan's first series win against Australia in the past 28 years, the last time Pakistan won Austral-Asia Cup played in Sharjah in 1990.

9 - The win in the tri-series final over Australia is the ninth successive T20I series that Pakistan have won. And on Thursday, they stayed on course for both. That game was Australia's first loss in the series, after which they bounced back well to beat Zimbabwe by five wickets on Friday, albeit in a tense finish, to get back to winning ways. Ashley Noffke against New Zealand in the 2007 Perth T20I and Soumya Sarkar against Pakistan in the 2015 Dhaka T20I were run out without facing a ball on debut. A Shaheen Afridi-led bowling attack then restricted Australia to 149/7.

Australia captain Aaron Finch was given a first-ball reprieve when he was dropped by Malik in the deep after top-edging a hook, and several misfields allowed any pressure with the new ball to be immediately dissipated.

With Finch nicking a ideal delivery from left-arm seamer Shaheen Afridi to wicketkeeper and captain Safraz Ahmed in the fifth over for 16 runs, Pakistan started believing that the day certainly belonged to them.

Finch was cornered by an Afridi delivery bending back at him and was caught behind off the inside edge, then Travis Head's minimal footwork was exposed when Faheem Ashraf seamed one back to pluck out middle stump. Australia on the other hand have brought in D'Arcy Short to replace Nic Maddinson. Afridi, on only his second T20I outing, finished with 3/37.

Pakistan started off the chase in a dismal manner as they lost two wickets in first over to get reduced to 2/2.

Earlier, recalled opening batsman D'Arcy Short responded from being dropped for the final group game by hitting 76 from 53 balls to boost Australia's innings.

After the initial blow, Zaman and Hussain Talat steadied the innings and posted 51/1 in the Powerplay.

Nic Maddinson, who managed scores of 5 and 2 in his first two worldwide limited-overs games in almost five years on this tour, has been dropped.

91 - Fakhar Zaman registered his career-best T20I score.

It took a slower ball from Marcus Stoinis for Zaman to walk back to the dugout.

0 - Under Sarfraz Ahmed's captaincy, Pakistan are yet to lose a single T20I while chasing.

For Pakistan Mohammad Amir picked up three wickets while Shadab Khan claimed two wickets. The teams are set to meet again in the final.
