Looters burn, pillage following violent fuel protests in Haitian capital

"At this time, we have not received any reports of USA citizens injured in the incidents", the State Department said in a statement.

"Due to continuing demonstrations, roadblocks, and violence across Port-au-Prince, as well as short staffing at the airports, embassy personnel have been instructed to re-book any flights originally scheduled for Sunday", the US embassy said in a statement.

The Canadian government also warns in a statement on Twitter that several airlines have cancelled flights to the capital in the wake of the violent protests.
