Jurgen Klopp has rallied to Loris Karius' defence following his latest Liverpool blunder.

When Karius made two awful mistakes in the Champions League final, supporters were furious and the last month and a half has been a process of trying to forgive the German even if forgetting is not an option.

Karius, 25, was making his second appearance for Liverpool since his high-profile errors against Real Madrid in May's Champions League final, but Klopp defended his goalkeeper after he spilled a free-kick and Rovers scored from the loose ball.

Jurgen Klopp's side clung on for a 3-2 victory and continue their pre-season campaign against Bury on Saturday.

'You can stop it by not asking, promise?

"Two brilliant footballers make this mistake, which one was the bigger?"

Speaking to Liverpool FC's website, Klopp said: "I'm not sure if I should have expected something different but it [the reception from fans] was nice, absolutely nice".

"No-one likes that goal but if we talk about the second goal I think it was Millie's (James Milner's) fault together with (Pedro) Chirvella".

While senior figures like Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi have to convince Klopp that they are better value than pursuing a forward in the transfer market. "I would say the second one but we don't talk about that".

The Reds raced into a three-goal lead before half-time as Rafa Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana - wearing the captain's armband - all struck ahead of the interval.

"They have all the quality, you can see that, you saw it four or five days ago that they are all really good football players, but it's not to show and we have our ideas", added the German.
