Iranian women are being arrested for dancing on Instagram

There has been widespread outcry over the arrest of Hojabri and the other detainees among Iranians in Iran and overseas, by artists, journalists, activists, politicians and thousands of ordinary citizens on social media.
Women in Iran are defying authorities and posting videos on Instagram in violation of the strict social codes.
In the act of protest, many are taking videos of themselves dancing in public spaces, which is prohibited under the Iranian law and promptly #DancingIsNotACrime is going viral on social media. She also appeared in videos without wearing the obligatory Islamic headscarf.

According to Dazed, four women have been arrested in the past week for posting videos of themselves dancing on Instagram.
