Unfortunately, there's nearly no plot details available for the film other than the fact that it will be a spinoff to the franchise that controversially pushed the ninth installment back.

Jason Statham is set to star in the film as well, with Deadpool 2's David Leitch directing. The script was written by Chris Morgan, who has been involved with the series since its inception, having written six of the eight installments for the Universal franchise.

After making a splash in "Avengers: Infinity War" Idris Elba has found a new action franchise to be a part of. Johnson will produce alongside his Seven Bucks Productions partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, Statham, Neal H. Moritz, and Morgan. The leading ladies of the film has still has not been finalized yet.

"I promised we were going to make this Fast & Furious spin off awesome and grow our franchise properly", he wrote.

Taking to Twitter to announce the news, Dwayne wrote: 'He's a baaaaad man. Welcoming my dude @idriselba with tattooed and open arms to our #HobbsAndShaw Fast & Furious spin-off movie. "Every hero is only as good as their villain".

The thus-far unnamed movie is heading into cinemas on July 26 2019. So are you excited to watch this visual extravaganza on the silver screen?
