Cricket Australia Glenn Maxwell slammed for handshake snub Pakistan T20 final

Glenn Maxwell sparks Pakistan outrage after handshake snub of Sarfraz Ahmed Watch: Maxwell Refused To Shake Hands With Sarfaraz Ahmed

Australia's Glenn Maxwell wasn't too keen to shake hands with Pakistan's Sarfraz Ahmed after the Twenty20 final in Harare.

Viewers from around the world were quick to point out Maxwell's supposed snub on social media, and there were also widespread rumours that Sarfarez told Maxwell to "f*** off' in the exchange".

Footage emerged on social media of Maxwell ignoring the outstretched hand of Ahmed before moving on to shake the hand of one of his teammates and the umpires, with fans labelling it "classless", "terrible behaviour" and "zero sportsmanship".

The 29-year-old took to Twitter to explain the situation was a "genuine oversight" and not deliberate, as he looked to have avoided Sarfraz while going on to shake hands with other Pakistan players on Sunday.

"Not shaking hands with Pak captain after winning the series it's not a great example set by Glen Maxwell plus kids are watching his behaviour & looking up to him". The toss was won by the Australian cricket team, who chose to bat first.

"Congrats to Pakistan on their win yesterday, Fakhar Zaman and Shoaib Malik were unstoppable", the allrounder wrote.

But the surprise success of opening the bowling with Glenn Maxwell's off-spin didn't last as Pakistan opening batsman Fakhar Zaman blasted a sublime 91 from 46 balls. "Sad note to end our tour of Zimbabwe, but still plenty of positives to take out of it", Maxwell clarified on Twitter.

"In regards to the incident shown post match, it appears unsportsmanlike, and certainly not the way I play the game". They lost debutant Sahibzada Farhan and Hussain Talat for ducks in the first over of their innings.
