Charles Oakley Arrested, Accused Of Cheating At Vegas Casino

Cassandra Castillo | 12 July, 2018, 21:25

Oakley, 54, was arrested at Cosmopolitan, a hotel and casino on The Strip, on Sunday after trying to pull a $100 chip during a gambling session.

In 1999 he was traded to the Toronto Raptors for Marcus Camby before playing out his remaining National Basketball Association days with the Houston Rockets in 2004.

Oakley was booked into the Clark County Detention Center without incident, the board said. According to TMZ Sports, Oakley "was suspected of adding to or reducing his wager on a gambling game after the outcome was known".

Oakley was taken into custody and charged with committing or attempting to commit a fraudulent act in a gaming establishment.

"Oak was confronted about the incident - and it was kicked over to a security team which reviewed the casino video footage ... confirming the alleged cheating". He faces between 1 to 6 years in prison if convicted.

Oakley has an active civil suit against Madison Square Garden and Knicks owner James Dolan following his February 2017 forced removal from the arena by security and subsequent arrest.

One source told TMZ that the arrest was not a big deal: 'This is an insignificant matter that will be quickly resolved'.

The former NBA All-Star played three seasons with the Raptors from 1998 to 2001.

Oakley now coaches the Killer 3s of the Big3 league. Dolan suggested Oakley was drunk and heckling him, and Oakley was arrested for assault, harassment and trespassing.
